Your head is actually aging faster than your feet. I'm not joking

One of these is closer than the rest. Commit before you find out.

The short version
  • Your noggin's clock ticks quicker than your toes. Here's the real reason why
  • Conversely, a greater distance from that mass means a weaker gravitational field, allowing time to tick forward at a perceptibly quicker pace.
  • For every 300 meters gained in elevation, a person's head ages approximately one-quintillionth of a second faster than their feet each year.

Stand at the peak of Mount Everest, and time accelerates. Retreat to the deepest Mariana Trench, and it slows. This isn't a mere philosophical musing; it's a measurable, demonstrable distortion of the very fabric of existence.

Einstein's theory of general relativity dictates that massive objects warp spacetime. Earth, through its immense gravitational pull, creates a subtle depression in this fabric. The closer one is to a significant mass, the stronger the gravitational field, and the slower time flows.

Conversely, a greater distance from that mass means a weaker gravitational field, allowing time to tick forward at a perceptibly quicker pace. This effect, though minuscule in our everyday experience, becomes evident with atomic clocks. An atomic clock at a higher elevation will accumulate a greater number of cycles than an identical clock at a lower one over the same period.
