The universe holds secrets beyond our comprehension

If you stood on a scale and weighed every star, planet, and grain of dust in the entire sky, you would be missing 95% of the universe. The atoms that build your lungs and the fire inside the sun are actually rare impurities in a cosmos made of things that shouldn't exist.

NASA’s WMAP and Planck missions confirmed that "normal" matter—the stuff we can touch—is just a 5% rounding error. The rest is an invisible duo called dark matter and dark energy that refuses to interact with light or heat.

Dark matter is the only reason you have a home. It acts as a heavy, invisible scaffolding that prevents galaxies from shattering; without its silent gravity, the Milky Way would have spun itself into a chaotic spray of lonely stars billions of years ago.

It is currently passing through your body like you aren't even there. You cannot see it or feel it, yet its mass is the cosmic glue holding the visible world together.

While dark matter pulls things in, dark energy is busy pushing everything away. It makes up roughly 68% of the universe and acts as a strange pressure inherent to space itself, stretching the distance between galaxies like an expanding sheet of rubber.

Most energy isn't stored in suns or black holes, but in the "nothingness" of the vacuum. As the universe expands, it creates more space, which means more dark energy is produced, which causes the expansion to accelerate even faster.

Right now, we live in a narrow window of cosmic history where we can still see our neighbors. Eventually, dark energy will push other galaxies away so fast that their light will never reach Earth again, leaving our descendants in a sky that appears completely empty.

Some scientists suspect this expansion might not stop at the edges of galaxies. If dark energy grows strong enough, it could eventually overcome the electromagnetic forces holding your molecules together.

In this speculative scenario, known as the Big Rip, the universe doesn't just expand; it shreds itself, starting with galaxies, then stars, and finally the very atoms in your fingernails.

But even if the universe doesn't tear itself apart, the expansion creates a strange paradox: the more space we have, the less of the universe we can actually reach.
